Biography
Inga Poslitur studied Fine Arts for six years in Art school, back in Russia. During that time she learned basics in painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking. After graduation she was accepted at the Academy of Applied Arts in Moscow in 1986 and studied there for four more years.
In 1992 she enrolled and in 1996 she graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology, NY, with major in General Illustration.
Her paintings and illustrations have been exhibited at the Afif Gallery, Salmagundi Club, Amsterdam Whitney Gallery, The Fashion Institute of Technology, and Society of Illustrators. She also painted props for the Earth Day Parade, New York City.
Her illustration clients are "Ins and Outs" magazine, "Hadassah" magazine, McBurney YMCA, Franshaw Inc., Mail-O-Matic mailing service, Color F.X., H.M.S. Productions, Craddle Togs.
On a regular basis Inga goes to museums to sketch and takes notes for potential projects. Her other passion is traveling. It enhances her awareness of colors, shapes and patterns. She sharpened her drawing skills by copying originals of old masters at the Morgan Library, taking classes at the Academy of Arts and Art Students League.
Her desire to paint or draw can be ignited by the sight of subtle and unusual color combinations in a landscape, the exotic shape of a flower, or the abstract silhouette of a building. As a habit, she is making thumbnail sketches first. Inga Poslitur usually plans her work ahead, but she allows color "accidents" to happen.
She is a full time working artist living in Brooklyn, New York with her family and two cats.
